Summoned at will

Hello everyone,

Having a bit of fun with some mutated critters this time.
Nothing major and they painted up rather quickly. I do have a plan to use them, but all will be unveiled in due time. The colour schemes may be a bit of a hint though.
I have a lot more painted models ready to go, but it took me a long time to take photographs of them. Been experimenting with a background this time.

Electro-kitten: I tried to paint lightning bolts in it's eyes, but it was a bit too small for my skills with the brushes.

Drooler: Just a bit of sillyness but it might be poisonous

Medushark: A mutated critter or a being from outer space?

Flamuppy: I envisioned this puppy as some kind of hell hound offspring. My first intention was to paint a molten earth pattern on him, but in the end I went for quick and easy.

Terrokin: Probably capable of shooting exploding seeds.

Thank you for reading, stay safe and healthy!

Wouter

  1. These are stunning and must be incredibly small too?

  2. Excellent work Wouter, and great to see a post from you, like all your thought process to the reason you chose the colours

    1. Thank you Dave! I know, I should post more. Taking pictures isn't really my strongest point and the time I spend on taking, cropping and resizing them is time I'm not spending doing what I love, which is painting.

    2. Fully understand what your saying ! Photography is my least favourite thing to do

    3. Count me in! It's not my least fav but the most hated part.

  3. Freaking awesome, look like poor man's Pokémon bootleg.

In the best way. I for the most part started to get bored of IP games and figures, and lean towards a more generic even in some cases, more creative designs...

    Love these critters!

    1. Cheers Javi, that's exactly what I was going for! I even got a rip off game planned for them 😁.

    2. I swear I haven't seen anything like that before: there was a card game but a miniatures tactical arena game like Roman Circus but with silly cute animals?

Glad I nailed it, now I can't wait to see how you further develop this ⚡🐰

    3. There definitely are options, if you want bootleg, this is a good one: https://amp-reddit-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/amp.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/1u0lmt/its_taken_me_four_months_but_i_made_a_pokemon/?amp_js_v=a3&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA%3D#aoh=15929719364754&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.reddit.com%2Fr%2Fpokemon%2Fcomments%2F1u0lmt%2Fits_taken_me_four_months_but_i_made_a_pokemon%2F
There was also a project on Kickstarter a while back, don't know how he's doing as his creations looked dangerously close to Pokémon. And he's probably getting his ass sued off by Nintendo.

Pokémon are essentially miniature Kaiju, so that's another route you can take, though it might take a few houserules.
The ruleset I'm going to use isn't necessarily a miniatures game, but can easily be converted into one and it has the option to build your own critters 😁.

  4. Very cool work and really good painting, especially given how small they are! I'm sure I recognise the Medushark from somewhere, but I can't place it...

    1. Thanks a lot for your comment Toby, the Medushark is from CP models. I bought a few a while back to convert into an Hanar for 15mm Mass Effect, but never the project got stranded.

  5. Hmmm, I can't figure out what are you planning, but you certainly got my attention. They all look nice, but can't imagine how small they are! Lovely work on all of them.

    1. Just a bit of silliness 😁, my kids love games like Pokémon and Yokai so I decided to play around with the concept a bit. Like Javi said, they're supposed to look like a cheap knock-off from the real thing.
I'll post a size comparison once I finished some of the trainers I'm currently sculpting.
      Thank you for the comment!

  6. A "Dr Moreau's Island" vignette or diorama in the works? These individual pieces look great. I can't wait for the final group shot reveal :)

    1. I must admit I've never made a diorama before, that's a great suggestion. Though these guys will definitely see some time on the tabletop.
      Cheers!

    1. Thank you Skully!
I initially bought them for a 15mm Mass Effect game, with a bit of conversion work they would be very suitable as Hanar.
