Some more Delgon

Hello,

Here's some more Delgon for the march challenge.
I spend a little more time painting these, as they are a couple of unique named characters for the army.

The first one is the leader of the priesthood, NuraSen Gohral.

 And his accomplice NuraKira Obal
 Group shot with KalDreman bodyguards

I also like the differences between the regular KalDreman and the honourguard accompanying Gohral. It is a bit hard to see, but the one on the left has a ribbon attached to his weapon, and as a Dhogu has hairy legs against the cold.

And to conclude this post, here's some work in progress.
As he's one of the Delgon Gods, I'm taking my time painting him. I want him to be painted to the best of my abilities.

I already attached him to his base, as he is quite heavy (being a metal miniature) and I accidently dropped him because my hand cramped while painting him. But it makes it difficult to paint him.

Thanks for reading,

Cheers

World of Twilight february challenge, ... oh wait, it's already march

Hello everyone,

I can think of at least a dozen excuses why I didn't finish my Delgon for the february challenge.
But the bottom line is that I got distracted by a lot of things.
Halfway through february I suddenly started painting my Frenu, instead of finishing the Delgon I started. The monotonous colour scheme I chose for my Delgon was probably the biggest factor.
Followed by some Relics miniatures, which I bought at least a year ago.
I dug these up after seeing some on Brummies blog.
To make matters worse I also received a message shortly after, saying my Gamingfunder reward for Relics was on it's way.
Distracted again ... one of my most terrible flaws indeed ;).

For my Delgon I wanted my force to look as if they were fitted with mass manufactered weapons, armour and clothing. So I used my metalic paints instead of NMM and went for a soft leather look on the sleeves and trousers. During wartime they probably don't bother a lot with dying the leather.
I also remembered seeing drawings of the first humans in winter, wearing soft leathers to protect them against the biting cold. Could also be useful in the Setir mountains, where the Delgon live.

Still working on Obal, Gohral and Roban. If I get these finished I only have to do Plutom's mechanicals to have all of my Delgon painted.
I do need some more KalGarkii (common footsoldiers) though, as right now I have more bodyguards than common soldiers. I also need some more KalMalog (Mechanized cyborg like soldiers), so I can play every scenario.

Kind regards

Wouter

Last entry for the World of Twilight painting challenge this month

Hey,

Here's my last entry for the January painting challenge.

To be honest, I had hoped to get more miniatures done, but work and family keep interfering :).
I had actually planned to do my grishak horde, but it would have been very monotonous painting, so I switched to other miniatures.
But, I did make some progress and I'm not entirely disappointed by the number of miniatures I managed to finish.

Right now I have an unfinished Kelahn on my painting desk, that I had hoped to show together with the Devanu handler. But now he'll probably be part of the Devanu Outcasts when I get them done.

Birds, snakes and some lizards often have transition between a hatchling and adult stage. With feathers or skin showing both stages at once. I tried to do the same for my jenta handler. With cream white legs, from his hatchling stage, to a darker green on his back.
He also wears some grishak skins to blend in with the pack.

The kosok is painted as a sempa, so with less colourful wings compared to the kopa.

And some group shots!

Tor Gaming's mystery box for Relics

Just a quick sidenote for those who are interested in getting some free mini's.

Tor Gaming is giving away a mystery box to one lucky winner.
I followed their Gamingfunder campaign last year and had also bought some Nuem in the past, as I really like the style and look of the mini's.
Relics also has a very nice rules-system, so I look forward to painting and playing this game in the future.

World of Twilight painting challenge and other stuff

Hey,

Here I am again, with just a little progress.
During the holidays I spend the little free time I had sculpting my Exiled king (Simba) for Briskars.
Quite a challenge, as it is the largest thing I have sculpted so far. He isn't finished yet, but will have to wait for a while, as I'm very busy painting World of Twilight miniatures during the spare time I have left. So here's the WIP.

In theory he is a mercenary (with Baxter's profile), and I'm going to add him to either my Maoks or Exiled, but the idea is to give him an oriental look like the other Maoks.
Baxter's club will be replaced by a tesubo and I want to add a straw hat.

Mike from World of Twilight has launched a painting challenge/competion to help backers get their kickstarter mini's painted and I decided to jump in.
My first idea was to get all my grishak done, but progress is slow so far. That's why I started with some expansion forces, so I have at least something to show with.
A devanu kopa from the basic set was still sitting on my desk when I had finally finished Arak Katain, and I felt a bit guilty I hadn't finished him first. While he can't compete in the challenge, I painted him up anyway, so my starter is finished at last.

For Arak Katain, I wanted a different skin-colour, as he comes from the Argoran wastes instead.
I also wanted his kosok to stand out and decided to give him some flashy wings.
The wings didn't work out as I wanted, but as I'm running out of time they will have to do.
Part of why I wanted some brightly coloured wings was because I see the kosok as a kopa.
It has always amazed me how different some male birds and amphibians are compared to their female counterparts, as if they are a whole different species.

A game of Briskars

Yesterday we had our second game of Briskars.
Truth to be told, it didn't went that well even though I employed different tactics compared to our first game. Our first game was a disaster for me too, but I played quite offensive that time, so I went on the defense in this clash.

The setup:
First turn comes to an end with only some movement on both sides. Madog and Marten hiding behind a small tent and Zhao ready for a countercharge when needed.
The Thuleen hunter shot at Marten, hitting hard. Madog used obey so Marten could shoot back, but he rolled a Critical Failure.
Madog decided to shoot the Thuleen hunter himself after Marten missed, but failed to hit the hunter too.
The other hunter shot Marten in retun, almost killing him.
Marten shot the first hunter again in his own turn and managed to do some damage.
The Thuleen leader charged Madog and did some massive damage.
Zhao rushed to her leader's (Madog) aid, but the Thuleen leader dodged away.
When the Thuleen trapper also joined the fray, Zhao managed to dodge aside as well.
What follows is the part which made me quit, The Thuleen leader hit Madog again and brought him down with a critical hit.
With Marten having to roll for morale before every activation and most likely to be put down at the start of next turn, I had only one member of my clan left, against four opponents. Time to retreat!
Right now I'm a bit at loss on how to handle my opponents Thuleens.
They are faster, hit harder and have an extra member in their group. It almost feels like I'm playing with a 100 coin handicap.
Comparing our leaders, we noticed his leader has almost the same stats, but is faster, has slightly less hitpoints but wears armour. And oh, he hits like a stormram, bringing down Madog with two hits (three without a CH) is a feat none of my members are capable of.
Madog on the other hand has a ranged attack, but if this is worth 10 more points we are not sure.
Looking at the other briskars we especially feel the extra clan member and the fact his hunters don't have to reload are some major advantages.
These are not really complaints, but we just were trying to figure out how things could go so wrong.
Perhaps I need to bring some other briskars to the field next time ...

Happy as a child

Last monday a package arrived that I was anxious to get.
It contains part of my World of Twilight pledge, with the new rulebook also included.
It's been a while since I felt like a child with a new toy, but this time I almost danced around the table where the stuff was laying on.

World of Twilight is a rather unique and fun fantasy setting with a lot of this old, almost fairy tale like, fantasy feel. A bit like older fantasy RPG's. It is also often associated with 'the Dark Crystal', a movie I still like and love a lot.

The pledge also contained the new ruler and a hand drawn map of the world.

Mike, the creator of World of Twilight also included these small terrain pieces, which look great.
I definitely need more of these :).

With some of my Briskars only half finished this project has to wait for a bit longer, but I look forward to start painting those.

Thanks for watching.
